When the intake volume increases, the exhaust volume will naturally increase. The blockage will affect the subsequent intake; on the other hand, if more air is drawn in, the exhaust will be smoother, which naturally helps to enhance power. Therefore, some modification shops suggest that car owners modify the intake kit not just for profit.

What should be noted when modifying the intake kit? Here are some introductions.
1. The filtering performance of the air barrier. The air barrier, as an important entry point for the car's intake system, can filter out dust and impurities that fall into the air, ensuring the purity of the intake. In this process, the efficiency of the air barrier in filtering air directly affects the intake volume. Here, we want to remind you that the main function of the air barrier is to filter air, and you should not choose inferior intake grilles just because they are cheap. Poor filtering ability of the air barrier can lead to the engine inhaling too much dust. Therefore, the premise of changing styles is to ensure filtering while considering the impact on intake efficiency. So how to choose a product that guarantees filtering and improves intake efficiency? A simple method is to buy from well-known brands with years of experience in intake system modifications. Although the price is relatively high, everyone knows the principle: you get what you pay for, such as KN, ARC, AEM, BMC, etc. It is generally recommended to buy street products. Although competition products have better intake effects, they also sacrifice low-speed torque for high power, and their durability is not as good as street products.
2. The invisible temperature effect. Because air has the characteristic of preheating expansion, the higher the intake temperature, the lower the oxygen content in the corresponding air of the same volume. The engine combustion relies on oxygen, so it is necessary to ensure that the air temperature inhaled by the intake system is as low as possible. However, due to costs and the position of each component, there is still a lot of room for improvement in the size and position of the intake port of the original model's air box. Therefore, this can also be modified, such as choosing heat-insulating materials and staying away from high temperatures (exhaust manifold), which can further improve intake performance.
3. The shape of the intake pipe will also have an impact. Similar to the modified head exhaust principle, generally speaking, the smoother the shape of the corrugated pipe, the straighter and thicker the intake pipe, and the smoother the pipe wall, the better the performance of the entire intake corrugated pipe. The power at high RPM will be greater. On the other hand, appropriately extending the length and shape of the intake pipe is more beneficial for low torque output. Usually, the smoother the profile of the corrugated pipe, the thicker the intake pipe in front of the corrugated pipe, the smaller the curvature, and the smoother the pipe wall, the better the performance of the entire intake pipe. Compared to simply replacing the original intake style, the modified carbon fiber corrugated pipe performs better in enhancing power performance, of course, the price is also higher. The aluminum alloy corrugated pipe has poorer heat insulation performance compared to carbon fiber, but with reasonable design, it can also achieve good results.
The above are the precautions when modifying the intake kit. I hope it helps everyone.
